This winter weekend has been unseasonably warm so Penny and I have spent lots of time enjoying the sunshine, taking walks, and dealing with a huge pile of wintertime washing. And for once, after a few busy weekends, I feel rested and like I spent my two days of freedom from adulthood well. I’m taking a few moments as the sun goes down to reflect on all I am grateful for after the last week. Here’s my Nourished Life Gratitude List 2016 – Week 30.I made a batch of Super Seedy Granola last week, and it made for the nicest breakfasts during the week when paired with sweet seasonal strawberries and banana. I was grateful for a simple, easy breakfast that brought some joy into my mornings at the office. On Friday night Chris, Penny and I drove up to Toowoomba for dinner and family time with Chris’s family – and it ended up being a puppy family play night too. Chris’s parents have a beautiful golden retriever named Ben, and Chris’s sister Rosie and her partner Jordan have an excited English Staffy named Tilly. Penny had a great time playing with her ‘uncle’ and ‘cousin’ while we ate a delicious dinner (thanks for the awesome sweet potato, spinach and chickpea curry Ruth!). Although it wasn’t the quietest night we have enjoyed, I loved seeing Penny playing with the other dogs and watching her little tail wag happily. She was so tuckered out she slept the whole drive home! On Saturday morning I met up with Mum and Jess for a market breakfast. We lingered over our bagels and coffee, and wandered around chatting up a storm. I grateful for connecting with my ladies every week and getting advice from them, sharing in their joys and triumphs and helping them through the tough times just like they help me. We ended our morning with a sneaky Saturday breakfast dessert: macarons! I tried out the nutella macaron this time. It was delicious but my favourite will always be pistachio. Penny graduated from her puppy training class this afternoon! I am grateful every day for this scruffy love bug and her toothy grin. Over the last six weeks she has come so far in her obedience training, and the little tricks she can do. I’m a proud puppy mama for sure. The market flower stalls were full of freesias, daffodils and these gorgeous jonquils. They smell like a summer’s day and I am grateful I could treat myself to a big bunch to brighten our dining room table. It’s all about the little things, friends.
Tell me, dear friends, what are you grateful for this week?
